COMSEC Network Engineer - IntermediateResponsibilities of the COMSEC Network Engineer:
McLane Advanced Technologies is seeking a COMSEC Network Engineer to support a Department of Energy (DOE) contract in Albuquerque, NM or Oakridge, TN.
The successful candidate will possess a solid understanding of networking principles, protocols, and technologies.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of our network, while supporting the organization's growth and evolving technology needs.
The COMSEC Network Engineer will:
Design, configure, and deploy secure communication systems, including cryptographic devices, network encryption appliances, and key management infrastructure.
Conduct risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and develop appropriate countermeasures.
Develop and implement COMSEC policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate COMSEC solutions into the overall network architecture.
Perform cryptographic key management, including key generation, distribution, rotation, and destruction.
Monitor and analyze network traffic for security incidents, intrusions, and unauthorized access attempts.
Respond to security incidents, conduct investigations, and implement remediation measures.
Stay updated on emerging COMSEC technologies, trends, and threats, and make recommendations for their implementation.
Conduct security awareness training for network users and provide guidance on secure communication practices.
Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, to ensure compliance with COMSEC regulations.
Participate in the development and execution of disaster recovery and business continuity plans related to secure communication systems.
Maintain accurate documentation of COMSEC procedures, configurations, and incident response activities.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to resolve COMSEC-related issues.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 5
years of relevant experience or Associate's degree with 7
years of relevant experience.
Proven experience as a COMSEC Network Engineer or a similar role, with a focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining secure communication systems.
Strong understanding of network security technologies, protocols, and cryptographic algorithms.
Knowledge of network monitoring and intrusion detection systems to detect and respond to security incidents.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and develop appropriate security controls.
